Debbie Bencik Briggs has extensive experience as a transactional attorney and currently focuses on financing transactions, joint ventures, asset purchases and sales, as well as project development, real estate and title matters for renewable energy projects.
Previously, Debbie held in house legal roles through Axiom Global, including as mergers and acquisitions counsel for a Fortune 500 manufacturer, as commercial attorney for clients ranging from a biomedical startup to a leading health care provider, and as subject matter expert on an international banking transfer initiative. Prior to that, Debbie served as Of Counsel at McCarthy Duffy where she performed a variety of corporate governance, commercial, compliance, reorganization, and transactional activities for a variety of matters and clients.
Debbie spent eight years in house as Senior Global Transactions Counsel at Motorola, where she managed the company’s major business process outsourcings, served as lead lawyer in mergers, joint ventures, asset sales and purchases; and also managed legal matters for the strategic venture investment team, working closely with corporate development professionals. Prior to that, Debbie was in private practice at Mayer Brown LLP in Chicago as a corporate and securities attorney involved in strategic transactions for Real Estate Investment Trusts, international manufacturers, partnerships and joint ventures, securities offerings and investment activities for clients. Early in her career, Debbie also served as a corporate and securities associate at Locke Lord LLP and Much Shelist, P.C. in Chicago.
Debbie has been actively involved in fundraising, advocacy and support for Type 1 Diabetes, raising awareness through her local JDRF chapter for over 15 years.
Debbie graduated from Miami University, cum laude, with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and then earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan Law School. She is licensed to practice law in Illinois.
